Event Details

Lots of French and a little kooky, this program explores the many moods of 20th Century French composers Poulenc, Ibert, and Francaix.

Rêverie transports listeners into the world of twentieth-century French music, with its vibrant colors, imagination, and wit. From the sparkling theatricality of Jacques Ibert’s Divertissement to the refined charm of Jean Françaix’s Dixtuor, this program invites audiences on a journey through music that is in turn playful, lyrical, and delightfully unexpected.

The concert culminates with Francis Poulenc’s enchanting Aubade for piano and chamber ensemble. Unique in its orchestration and structure, this work can only be described as a dreamscape of reflection and fantasy. A work so beautiful and intimate that it is sure to linger long after the final note has faded.
