Warm up your spirit this winter Richard Tognetti’s arrangement of Grieg’s String Quartet, and the Serenade for Strings by Dag Wirén.

The COT strings pay tribute to the music of Scandinavia. Combining classical elegance with nordic charm, Dag Wirén’s Serenade evokes a sense of freshness and optimism that can only be  felt on a Spring day after a looong, dark winter. Edvard Grieg’s String Quartet is one of the most powerful and emotionally charged chamber works in the repertoire, qualities that are only magnified by Richard Tognetti’s powerful arrangement for String Orchestra. Infused with the spirit of Norwegian folk music, this masterpiece will have you singing, crying, and dancing all within minutes. The concert takes a turn with Gordon Jacob’s expressive Horn Concerto, featuring the rich, noble sound of the French Horn set against the warmth and transparency of the string orchestra.
